Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

We provide solutions for real world positive impact

Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

As embodied carbon moves from a "nice to know" to a procurement and specification issue, manufacturers and suppliers are under growing pressure to provide credible, product-level environmental data. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) help you move from broad sustainability claims to independently verified, comparable information that customers, contractors, designers and investors can rely on.

At Ecostatis, we help manufacturers and suppliers develop clear, standards-aligned EPDs for construction and manufactured products. From data gathering and Life Cycle Assessment through to documentation, verifier coordination and publication support, we guide you through the process in a way that is practical, efficient and commercially useful.

EPD Documentation

What is an EPD?

An Environmental Product Declaration is a standardised document that reports the environmental impacts of a product based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). In construction and building products, EPDs are commonly developed in line with EN 15804, while ISO 14025 provides the overarching framework for Type III environmental declarations.

A properly prepared EPD allows buyers and specifiers to compare products on a like-for-like basis using recognised life-cycle modules, from raw material extraction and manufacturing through transport, use and end-of-life stages where required. This is why EPDs are increasingly central to embodied carbon reporting, green building schemes, product transparency and market access.

Market Requirements

Why EPDs matter now

The market has changed. Major contractors, developers, procurement teams and EU-facing markets increasingly expect product-level environmental evidence, not just high-level claims. Verified EPDs are becoming more important for specification, low-carbon procurement and compliance with evolving rules linked to the revised EU Construction Products Regulation and wider whole-life carbon requirements.

In practice, this means that businesses without credible product data risk losing visibility in tenders, being excluded from preferred supplier lists, or struggling to compete where embodied carbon is part of design and procurement decisions. An EPD is no longer just a technical document, it is a commercial tool.

Manufacturing Support

Who we help

We support:

  • Manufacturers of construction products and building materials.
  • Suppliers of MEP, facade, insulation, steel, concrete, interiors and specialist components.
  • Businesses preparing for UK, EU or export market requirements where product transparency matters.
  • Organisations that want to strengthen their sustainability claims with verified, publishable evidence.

Whether you are producing your first EPD or scaling a wider product transparency programme across a portfolio, we help you structure the work clearly and move it forward with confidence.

What we do

Our EPD support service covers the key stages required to move from intent to publication:

  • EPD readiness review – We assess your products, available data, priorities and likely pathway to a compliant EPD.
  • Scope and standards alignment – We help identify the relevant Product Category Rules (PCR), programme operator and applicable standards such as EN 15804 and ISO 14025.
  • Data collection and gap analysis – We work with your team to gather the operational, material, transport, waste and supplier data required for a robust assessment.
  • Life Cycle Assessment support – We coordinate or support the LCA process in line with ISO 14040/44 and product-specific requirements.
  • EPD document preparation – We help prepare the technical information and supporting documentation needed for independent review.
  • Verification and publication support – We liaise with verifiers and programme operators through review, corrections and publication.

Our role is to simplify a process that can otherwise feel technical, fragmented and time-consuming for internal teams.

Business Benefits

What clients gain

A well-executed EPD can help your business:

  • Strengthen credibility with specifiers, contractors and procurement teams.
  • Support low-carbon and embodied carbon conversations with evidence, not marketing claims.
  • Improve readiness for UK, EU and export market expectations.
  • Create a stronger basis for product comparison and value communication.
  • Identify data gaps and improvement opportunities across your supply chain and manufacturing process.

Done properly, an EPD is not just about disclosure. It can help shape product strategy, product improvement and market positioning.

Why Ecostatis

We bring together sustainability consulting, data discipline and practical project coordination. That means we do not treat EPDs as isolated technical outputs; we connect them to the wider commercial story around decarbonisation, ESG credibility, procurement readiness and market access.

Ecostatis is especially well placed for companies operating across the UK, EU and African markets. If your business needs environmental product data that stands up to scrutiny while also supporting growth across multiple regions, we help you navigate the process with clarity and confidence.
